Unearthing Spring | Discovery 2016

My Word of the Year this year was Discovery, and I've been playfully serious about it. I guess this year, I just decided that this is the life. And I mean that in every way possible. This is the enjoyable life that I've always wanted to life. And right now I'm living far away in a little cabin, it just feels like the perfect place to be expanding, learning and discovering all the things.

Sometimes I forget to write about it, or even post it all on my instagram!  But I'm always taking photos. So I decided to share pieces of my year and all of the discoveries that I've unearthed so far this year.

I have decided to commit to reading at least 4 books per month. I've found that I just love to be enthralled in a fantasy fiction, a self help book, a book on spirituality and something fun. You can follow me on Goodreads if you want. I would love book recommendations.

And I'm also shooting for 100 new paintings this year, which has been hard to balance, but a fun challenge to do. I've also been sketching and art journaling a lot more this year. It's been extremely helpful and healing to just sit and art journal by the fire.. and when it's warm enough to not need a fire, I'm excited to do it while sitting in the woods.

(These will be added to the shop next week!)

In my reading discoveries I've been working on The Artists Way and tried out an Artist date last weekend. I went and did my favorite artist things all by myself. I loved it. I forgot how much I love going to art stores alone. I loved comparing sketchbook pages without worrying about time. I loved walking around town by myself and exploring the things that only I love.

I bought some new paint, pallets, brushes and journals without worrying about money. It felt so good. This year I finally set myself up a business account and have been saving myself some money just for moments like this. So I decided that if something felt right, I should do it.

After the art store, I headed over to the book store. (Naturally.) I initially went in for To Kill a Mockingbird. I was surprised I didn't have it already! And I left the store with two other books on painting and watercolors.

Sterling and I met back up and had lunch together at our favorite vegan restaurant. We've recently decided to go vegan. It wasn't too hard of a choice to make, it just felt right and natural.. So we've started cutting out all dairy. We've been vegetarian for about 8 months now, and it just seems like the natural way to eat now. I've never liked milk, so dairy isn't a hard one to cut out for me.

Also, we discovered a selfie stick that day. The look on my face cracks me up, Sterling looks handsome as always.

The snow is finally melting a little bit here. I walked down to the river and meditated on the bank last weekend. I have a super secret place by the river where I found a perfectly smooth rock perfect for sitting. The river is a quick walk from my cabin and it's my favorite place to go when I'm having a rough day. The roar of the river and the weightless birds dancing in and out of the water helps me reset.

I love that I can feel spring coming a little bit closer with each day. It's like we are on the verge of something brilliant.

This Spring I think I'm most excited about the Spirit de la Lune deck.

It is finally here!!! We have shipped out preorders and we couldn't be happier with the deck. It is officially for sale on it's new website and Marissa and I have been texting each other non stop for a few weeks about it. It's been such an exciting experience and I'll be honest it has scared the hell out of me. We've been working SO hard on this project... for 2 years and now it's  finally here!

The rest of March is packed full of deadlines for me.. (I think I do this to myself accidentally on purpose every year. Aries do well under pressure.)

This week, I'm working on the last book of the Scarily Ever Laughter Series. And, I've also got some more mandala news coming up, (and shhhh...) there are more decks in the works that I haven't mentioned before!

I can't show you anything quite yet, and that's okay because the Spirit de la Lune deck being available is grand enough for me right now!!

Happy Super Moon- New Moon - Solar Eclipse! It's an extremely powerful day! Head over to the Spirit de la Lune Blog for the energy report!

It's a very strong energetic day today!

I'm hoping to use some of this lunar energy in some vision boarding and art planning. A part of me is longing for a virtual new moon night with all of my long distance friends.

What are you doing tonight to celebrate this New Moon?
