Would you believe me if I told you I hear voices? (probably, I am a little weird aren't I?) Don't lock me up though, because I think everyone could hear voices if they really wanted to.
Besides.. it's mostly just snippets of sentences and pieces of words that I later stitch together into paintings, sketches, and poems.
This painting here was sparked from such inspiration, in fact many of the new ones come from that inspiration. Maybe it's just easier to hear my muses while out in the woods.
Sterling and I have actually been talking about that... how our minds feel quieter and clearer since leaving the city. All the extra voices have vanished.. so it's clearer to hear our own inner voice, and our muses better.
I was going to bed one cold wintry night last month. And as I pulled the covers up over my head like I always do, I began to wonder just what kind of magic was going on under all this snow.
I mean, it can't all be frozen, white and colorless down there..There must be something alive down there that's getting ready to wake up and spring forth..
And as I fell asleep and began to drift off to that special space between sleep and awake I began to see and hear this next painting come to life.
There is indeed life stirring..
beneath the shade of death,
where weary eyes peek
and small hands seek,
grasping at the darkening sun.
a fight against an endless sleep.
with lingering question,
do the days grow longer still?
and yet they dance from the web of slumber,
the rhythm of an ancient beat.
emerging again from death redeemed,
as time spins its tender tales.
I've updated the shop today to include prints of all of these, and a few new originals.
I've actually not minded the cold this winter. Having read a few studies on how feeling cold = feeling fearful or other negative emotions, I was able to overcome a lot of the discomfort I felt while being cold. In fact.. my house is about 52 degrees before I even start a fire and I'm not too bothered by it. (the dogs who are currently curled up in their heated blankets may have something to say on this matter..)
I'm sure I'll be back to blog about more winter adventures soon.. and with that I'll explain some of these newest paintings.
