Rearranging The Stove

Today I stayed in bed just a little bit longer than normal. This time last year, that would have been typical for me... But I've been working really hard! To not only get out of bed before 10 am, but to dress up, show up, and kick ass. Daily.

And this morning, as a result of all that hard work, I decided to stay in bed until 9:45. Last night I went to sleep after finishing two pretty large projects.

For this last year, I have done my best to make deadlines, and stick to them.. and of course if I didn't stick to them, I made sure to have clear communication with my collaborators.

These last two weeks, I buckled down to finish the Spirit De La Lune Deck, and Autumn Alchemy

(Which is also why I haven't blogged lately)

Oracle decks and Tarot decks are such a process! So much goes into the illustrations behind them. But, last night I went to bed with  98% off the illustration process is complete with the Spirit de la Lune Deck. All I'm working on now is editing some little details and making sure I have the right files, formats and colors. Unless of course we find anything else that needs altering... but pretty soon, I will have this deck in my hands!!

This Spirit De La Lune deck is looking incredible!

The communication and collaboration between Marissa and I has been awesome, and just what I look for when I go into a collaborative project. The illustrations wouldn't be the same without her ideas and suggestions. Some of the cards got changed up quite a bit from my original idea, but in the end the final illustration looked 100% better than it would have if I wasn't open to suggestions. The key to a good collaboration is communication and dropping one's pride; not taking offense when someone has an idea, and not silencing your voice when you have an idea.

I think it's because of that kind of collaboration and communication the cards look so good! I know that completing the illustrations is just the first step of the process in making the deck! There is so much more that Marissa and I plan to offer with the Spirit de la Lune. (Poster-size Yearly moon-phase calendars anyone?) So please stick around for details! Or send me a message with your ideas!

Autumn Alchemy

I also can't wait to show you more of the illustrations I did for Autumn Alchemy!  I love the overall feel and theme of the project and can't wait to see it in book format.  The illustrations have all been sent off, and I fear the rest of this process is no longer up to me as the illustrator. (As the case with most books) I will of course be updating here with more information when I hear it. I will also be listing many of the illustrations for sale in the shop as soon as I find that ever elusive free-time!

You would think that I would have more time now that I finished up two of my numerous projects..  but I am a week away from the Wild Women Symposium! So the rest of my time and attention is going to the Crystal Connection class that I am teaching!

I am SO excited for the Symposium. I don't get out much. It's true. So, every six months or so I can handle something like this! Plus my sweet friend Natasha is flying out for the event!

We are going to have so much fun, and drink so much coffee.

But aside from making plans for the extra days she will be here, I am planning the class! Okay, I'm not that much of a procrastinator.. promise. I've had the classes outline for several months bumping along in my subconscious. I also set aside time each week to put together plans and do little parts here and there.

Now these next few days are stitching together the class that is Crystal Connection. And oh my goodness.. it's going to be great.

Many people have asked if I will offer this class online, and my answer is yes! I will be offering an online version of this class in the future!

In the process of planning this class, finishing illustrations and doing my own amount of painting, I've thought of SO many ideas for classes I want to offer. (I do miss teaching!) I'm making a list, and adding to it fairly often! I haven't made any course material yet, as I've got a lot more to work on first, but I have announced two solid classes that I plan on offering. It feels great that I'm one step closer to starting classes.

Taking these two projects off my to-do list has freed up a lot of time and energy. And don't worry, I won't be lounging in bed often.. Because with those two projects off the stove, I can rearrange, I can take some projects that were set to the back burner up to the front again....

Do you know what this means??

The Tree Talker Tarot is next on my to-finish list!
