Happy Super Full Moon! I am giving away an art print!

Happy Full Super Moon!

I have officially been living in the desert for a month and half now.

I found a really beautiful badass off-grid cob house on 10 acres of land in the high desert that I have been renting. And it's been a dream come true.

The sunsets are breathtaking and the mountains are just beautiful.

I found the home in what is called a pygmy forest, so I'm surrounded by pine trees, junipers, cactus, yucca, and all sorts of other beautiful plants I need to get to know.

I really should have updated the blog more, but so much has happened! You know how moving goes...

I'm finally feeling a bit more myself, so I thought I'd share a few photos and a a quick update about the move..

I did post live updates as the move was taking place.. because lets just say, it did NOT go smoothly, and I was in need of constant emotional support.

Here is a quick recap in case you missed it on instagram.. We severely underestimated the time it would take us to pack and clean the cabin. Which was frustrating as it not only caused us to be 12 hours behind schedule, but we lost precious sleep and ended up beginning our journey after staying awake through the entire night.

Things went along pretty smoothly until around 12am when we had two tires fall off our truck while we were driving on the highway towing our trailer. It was an extremely stressful and expensive event. After spending the night in a parking lot we took our truck into a shop and were able to figure out a temporary fix to get us back on the road, (we were only 5 hours away from our new place at the time.)

While on the road again, and only 45 minutes from our final destination.... we had two flat tires on the trailer! Another stressful and scary event, this one almost caused a fire and the loss of all of our belongings. After spending the night in a hotel and getting 4 new tires on Stella, we finally made it into our new home about 3 days after we had initially planned. And then I swear I slept for 3 weeks straight.

But I'm feeling earth-side again, and things are beginning to find their rhythm and place here. The animals are happy in the new house, and for the first time ever I am actually thinking about buying and staying in one place. (Minus lots of traveling in Stella once we finish her up!)

I will be posting more photos of the home soon. I am not at all as unpacked and decorated as I would like to be. But I wanted to show you the new artwork that I have listed in my shop!

It's been a while since I have updated my shop with new art! Some of these are from the summer, and some were inspired by last inktober, which I sadly did not finish due the stress of the move.

All prints are currently listed in my etsy shop!

(Please note the last day to order prints (and decks) will be December 19th. )

Art Journaling - Creating Habits and Seeing Progress

I've officially spent the last year working mainly with watercolor and colored pencil. This feels like a big deal, because I always thought I was going to work with acrylics.

I feel like it's given me a lot more freedom. Instead of changing into my painting clothes and setting up my pallets, I have just been working on the floor or wherever it's easier. I have given up the notion of things needing to be perfect, and so I started to focus on expressing myself instead.

Much of my art making has turned into art-journaling.

Having that freedom to just express has helped me create when I feel like creating. For no reason at all other than to express myself. It's been fun to watch my progress over this last year as I've filled sketch book after sketchbook.

Uncovering Symbols and Stories Art Journaling | Tree Talker ARt

Last January is when I really started art journaling. I started the year off with a broken finger, and pretty bad depression.

I had no idea what Winter's depression really had for me in the coming months, but I'm thankful I taped my broken finger into the pencil-holding position and kept going.

I sometimes just scribble colors, words or symbols. Sometimes I hide my poetry or my thoughts behind the faces.

Sometimes I share my pages on Instagram, and sometimes I even list them for sale in my shop. Sometimes I keep them hidden all to myself.

I did list 8 new pieces today.

I feel like this is one of my most "emotional" batches that I've ever listed.. so it feels a little bit vulnerable to share them.

One of the most important parts of my day is sitting on my floor creating art in my art journals... so I'm very excited to announce that I've been asked to be a part of Pull - Pen - Paint!

Journaling with Tarot and Oracle Cards

This is a month long art journaling class using Tarot and Oracle cards. Doesn't that sound amazing?

I will be teaching and sharing a class called "Unearthing Stories and Symbols From the Soul."

We are going to get to combine tarot and oracle readings with art journaling, and I get to share part of my process!

I'm so excited that I get to combine my two passions. I hope you will join me in class!!

I will be back next week to give away two seats in the class, as well as some more details about the class I'll be teaching!

Have a Happy Lunar New Year!

p.s. did you know I do monthly lunar reports over at Spirit de la Lune?

The Benefits ofMaking Mandalas, (and my newest time-lapse!)

The Benefits ofMaking Mandalas, (and my newest time-lapse!)

I've always found doodling, drawing circles, or even a spiral outward from a central point to be very meditative and calming.Mandalas been my "go-to" subject since I first began to draw flowers, shapes and lines. But it wasn't until I did the Moondala cards from Spirit De La Lune that I figured out exactly why I liked mandalas so much. They bring me into a nice meditative and calm state. In fact, a simple mandala is a very fast way to bring me to my center. Depending on the theme or intention behind the mandala, I can access that state deeper and find out things about myself.
