Duality Mixed Media Art | Tree Talker Art Rachael Caringella

A little while ago, I was given a wonderful compliment about my art. Someone had mentioned that my art was very "alchemical." Another person also said that they could see the Tarot in my art, saying they could recognize some of the symbols.

Much of my artistic inspiration comes from old medieval art, illuminated manuscripts and the use of symbology.

(I should show more pictures of the inside of my home! It's covered in medieval style decor to help keep me constantly inspired.)

Have you ever felt drawn to certain symbols or Archetypes?

The old medieval style Sun and Moon symbols have always called to me, even when I was little. So much so that I insisted my bedroom be covered in old style moons and suns when I was a kid.

(I even have a Pinterest Board to feed my obsession/inspiration.)

I feel that my innate love for ancient symbols is what drew me to being both an artist and a Tarot reader.

Tarot and Oracle cards are often highly visual, and are based on symbols and archetypes that are easily recognized by our souls/higher-selves. We seem to know their meaning just by looking at them. When I was illustrating the Spirit de la Lune deck, I was sure to use symbols that would be easily recognized by the soul.

Symbols can mean different things to different people. But they are like little clues or keys that our higher self gives us to spark knowledge, new perspective, or even give answers when we need them.

Which is actually what I will be teaching on and sharing this month for Pull + Pen + Paint!

i'm really excited to get to combine my two loves

Step By Step Art| Tree Talker Art Rachael Caringella

and share them with you!

Using our Tarot and Oracle cards, we will get in touch with the symbols and archetypes that our soul may be in need of at this time.

Looking at the cards in a different way, we can gather stories, symbols and signs that may even be repeated in your waking life.

We will then take our symbols to our art journals and create a mixed media story-telling page from our reading, while looking into the deeper meanings the symbols might hold.

By learning to recognize symbols and signs with our divination tools & creativity, we open our mind's eye to greater intuition in our day to day lives.

I've taken a look at all of the teachers and classes... and it's going to be an amazing month!

Teacher Line up

This is a course for both beginners and advanced readers and artists, so everyone is able to participate and deepen their intuition and practice their creativity.

The class is also done live for the most part, with meetups, videos and weekly lessons and projects. There will also be a facebook group where we can share our work in a community. (I do believe the videos and lessons will be left up for quite some time after the course ends.)

You can purchase your seat here.

Or enter to win!

I am also giving away TWO free seats to the class!

All you have to do is sign up below and share my post or tag a friend on facebook or instagram.

I will email the winners using the email address given in the above form. (Don't worry, you won't be added to any email list.)

I will choose and  announce the winners February 14th!

Blessed Imbolc and happy February First!

I am an Artist, Mystic and Oracle. I have been creating since I was little, and am constantly working on something new in the studio. I also have a passion for illustration. I have illustrated a few children's books as well as some Tarot decks and Oracle decks. Aside from creating art, I am also a card reader. I specialize in Tarot and Crystal readings. I love all things mystic, and spiritual and I delight in the mixture of creation and intuition.

Art Journaling - Creating Habits and Seeing Progress

I've officially spent the last year working mainly with watercolor and colored pencil. This feels like a big deal, because I always thought I was going to work with acrylics.

I feel like it's given me a lot more freedom. Instead of changing into my painting clothes and setting up my pallets, I have just been working on the floor or wherever it's easier. I have given up the notion of things needing to be perfect, and so I started to focus on expressing myself instead.

Much of my art making has turned into art-journaling.

Having that freedom to just express has helped me create when I feel like creating. For no reason at all other than to express myself. It's been fun to watch my progress over this last year as I've filled sketch book after sketchbook.

Uncovering Symbols and Stories Art Journaling | Tree Talker ARt

Last January is when I really started art journaling. I started the year off with a broken finger, and pretty bad depression.

I had no idea what Winter's depression really had for me in the coming months, but I'm thankful I taped my broken finger into the pencil-holding position and kept going.

I sometimes just scribble colors, words or symbols. Sometimes I hide my poetry or my thoughts behind the faces.

Sometimes I share my pages on Instagram, and sometimes I even list them for sale in my shop. Sometimes I keep them hidden all to myself.

I did list 8 new pieces today.

I feel like this is one of my most "emotional" batches that I've ever listed.. so it feels a little bit vulnerable to share them.

One of the most important parts of my day is sitting on my floor creating art in my art journals... so I'm very excited to announce that I've been asked to be a part of Pull - Pen - Paint!

Journaling with Tarot and Oracle Cards

This is a month long art journaling class using Tarot and Oracle cards. Doesn't that sound amazing?

I will be teaching and sharing a class called "Unearthing Stories and Symbols From the Soul."

We are going to get to combine tarot and oracle readings with art journaling, and I get to share part of my process!

I'm so excited that I get to combine my two passions. I hope you will join me in class!!

I will be back next week to give away two seats in the class, as well as some more details about the class I'll be teaching!

Have a Happy Lunar New Year!

p.s. did you know I do monthly lunar reports over at Spirit de la Lune?
