Faeries & fantasy | Magic in the Making

Shooting Star Mushroom Ring Ink Painting by Rachael Caringella

In case you haven’t seen on Instagram… I had a busy October.

For the most part I was able to keep up with the Inktober challenge. Which to be honest, is a pretty huge achievement for me right now.

I’ve had tons going on over here, with Spirit de la Lune as well as preparing the cob house for Winter.

This year for Inktober, I chose a faery theme.

… and I love what came out of it. I have been wanting to sketch out and draw fairies and fantasy creatures for a long time now.

I usually keep them to myself in my art journals, so this was a great excuse to practice them all month long and then actually post them.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve checked in... Sorry about that. I do mean to write more. I swear. I’ve been reading some articles lately about the different ways that trauma changes and PTSD has been affecting me more than I’d like to admit… But, like I’ve been saying for years… I’m thankful for my art and art journaling. I’m also incredibly thankful for the understanding and accepting people I have in my life right now.

The Art Shop is Updated!

It took me a little while, but I’ve listed all 31 new prints in the shop, and turned some of them into print sets so you can buy them in packs at a discounted rate.

Right now, I am even having a sale in the shop!

I don’t usually like to celebrate black friday or Thanksgiving, but I haven’t had a sale in a while… and with all the new prints, I figured now would be the perfect time for a weekend sale.

I’ve got 20% off AND Free Shipping going on over at my shop until the 25th of November.

No coupon necessary… free shipping and 20% off will automatically be applied at checkout!

I had a lot of fun matching the prompts up with other prompts to create these sets. I really am such a nerd when it comes to Inktober... I buy myself a new pen set and a sketchbook each year. Though this year, I have so many leftover pages, I may keep up the fairy theme for next year’s inktober or another art challenge.

It took me a lot longer than expected to get everything scanned in and listed online this year… but in my defense, this is the first time I was able to finish Inktober in years, so I had 31 drawings to scan in and turn into pretty giclée prints along with all my other fun stuff.

I love inktober because it’s so inspiring for me… I’m excited to explore the crystal tree, red cap and jackalope ideas more! In fact, I’ve been teaching myself how to to needle felt and create fiber sculptures because the jackalope and caravulope creatures were so inspiring for me! (You can see the progress on my fiber sculptures over on my patreon!)

Luckily I will have more time to explore those ideas because we’ve finally finished the Spirit de la Lune Planner!

We just launched pre-sales, but I wanted to let you know over here as well because we are having a Black Friday sale for the planners right now!

The planners include such gorgeous soothing colors, fun and useful stickers, coloring pages and holographic printing! There are weekly lunar guides to help you stay connected to the lunar phases, info about crystals, astrology of the week and so much more!

Marissa and I had a lot of fun creating the planners and I can’t wait to use it next year!

Head over to Spirit de la Lune to read more!

I also have some more exciting news… I will be teaching a bonus lesson for Book of Days course 2019 with Effy Wild!

You have no idea how excited I am to be a part of her classes! I’ve admired her and her work for years and was actually feeling very timid about teaching with her that I initially turned it down!

I’m glad I changed my mind… The teacher line up looks amazing and I’m so honored to be teaching among such great artists this coming year.

I will be teaching one of my favorite art journaling techniques, I can’t wait to tell you more about it in the future!

The winter season is creeping in slowly over here. This will be my second and final winter here in the desert. But I’m excited. There really is something special about the winter season. I’m looking forward to things slowing down a bit as I plan the year ahead.

I’m only planning on teaching one class this year and hopefully taking time to just make art and plan my next move.

If you are interested in keeping up with me, my patreon and instagram get updated the most!
